Qi - Life force
Daoism - A Chinese philosophical and religious tradition. It promotes living in harmony with natural order.
Wu wei - Effortless action
Kua - Located where the thighs meet the pelvis, including the hip joints. Engaging the Kua allows power to transfer from the lower to the upper body.
Wu - Military/Martial/Fierce
Laogong - Also known as the palace of toil, the laogong is a meridian point located in the palm of the hand.
Yi - Intention from the mind
Jing - Natural essence, Vitality, Inherited and stored energy which governs growth.
Xin Yi - Intention from the heart
Yong Quan - An acupuncture point located on the sole of the foot. It allows energy to flow from the earth into the body.
Ren - Humaneness
Chen - Chen is a concept in tai chi involving the release of tension throughout the whole body.
Yangsheng - Nourishing one’s life.
Heaven and earth (tiandi) - The connection between the celestial and terrestrial.

Five phases (wuxing) - (Wood, Fire, Earth, Water, Metal) Aspects of the universe’s continual existence and development.
Full (shi) - In Tai Chi, full refers to the body part that carries the body’s weight.
Empty (xu) - In tai chi, empty refers to the body part which as no weight within it.

Flow - The continual movement of the entire body.
Yin - Representative of stillness, receptivity, the dark, the night, passiveness and the internal.
Yang -Representative of hardness, the external, the day and activeness.
Dantian - An energy centre located three fingers width below the navel.
Meridians - Energy points located across the body.
Rooting - Connectedness to the earth.
Zhan Zhuang - A standing meditation (standing like a tree)
Wuji - The undifferentiated state before the emergence of yin and yang.

Zhong Dantian - The middle energy centre located around the hearts area.
Shang Dantian - The upper dantian located around the third eye.
Mingmen - An acupuncture point located in the lower back.
